Description: Ambulia, scientifically known as Limnophila Sessiliflora, is a vibrant and bushy aquatic plant native to Southeast Asia. Its bright green, feathery leaves make it a popular choice for aquariums, providing a lush, natural look. Ambulia is often used as a background plant due to its rapid growth and dense foliage, which can create a beautiful backdrop for other aquatic life.

Care Guide:

  • Lighting: Ambulia thrives in low to medium lighting. While it doesn’t require high light levels like some other aquatic plants, providing adequate light will ensure healthy and robust growth. Insufficient lighting can lead to leggy and sparse growth.
  • Water Conditions: This plant prefers a temperature range of 20-28°C (68-82°F) and a pH level between 5.0 and 7.0. It is quite adaptable and can tolerate a variety of water conditions, making it suitable for most freshwater aquariums.
  • Nutrients: Regular use of liquid fertilizers is recommended to supply essential nutrients. Ambulia absorbs nutrients from the water column, so a balanced fertilizer with both macronutrients and micronutrients will support its growth.
  • CO2: While not strictly necessary, CO2 injection can promote thicker and healthier growth. In low-tech setups, Ambulia will still grow well but may benefit from occasional CO2 supplementation.
  • Trimming: Due to its fast growth rate, frequent trimming is necessary to maintain its shape and prevent it from overshadowing other plants. Trim the tops and replant the cuttings to propagate new plants.
  • Placement: Ideal for background placement in aquariums, Ambulia can also be used in the midground if regularly trimmed. Its bushy appearance provides excellent cover for fish and other aquatic creatures.
  • Propagation: Ambulia propagates easily through cuttings. Simply cut a healthy stem and plant it in the substrate. It will quickly develop roots and start growing.

Ambulia is an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists due to its ease of care and rapid growth. Its vibrant green foliage adds a touch of natural beauty to any aquarium setup.
